Stoker Tim Moule 41 mess HMAS Sydney [manuscript] : at Alex 1940-41 with 7th cruiser squadron, Light Forces / Tim Moule. 1940-1941.

Diary written by Albert 'Tim' Moule, stoker on HMAS Sydney, 1940-1941. It consists of almost daily entries, sometimes quite brief, describing what happened that day. Days where there was enemy action are described more fully, with numbers of shells fired and casualties. There is little in the way of personal observations or feelings. The diary ends in February 1941, and it is assumed that part 2 of the diary was with him when the vessel was lost. The diary is accompanied by photographs, and by research notes in the text of the transcript which explain some of the events more clearly. There is also a brief biography of Tim Moule, and it is assumed that these have been added by the transcriber, Greg Swinden. Copies of various documents accompany the diary and transcript; his record of service; Australian War Memorial roll of honour; RAN nominal roll; telegram to his wife telling of his loss; letter from the Navy Office to his wife regarding her pension; Certificate of death.
